SM-11 Stereotaxic Micromanipulator
Narishige

sm11

Versatile micromanipulator with multiple movable sections.

This is the most popular micromanipulator for stereotaxic instruments, and is attached to AP frame bar of the instrument when in use. A coarse movement unit with a long working range is attached to the Z-axis, while units for fine movement adjustment are mounted on each individual axis. These fine movement units have scales with minimum increment of 10um (i.e. the total of a single rotation, 500um, divided by 50), so that precise adjustments of only 10um are possible. In addition, the Z-axis fine movement unit has a sliding mechanism, which enables approximate positioning of the X-axis. A rotation mechanism is equipped for each of the XY, XZ and YZ planes, which allows approach from any required tilting angle. Easy-to-use scales are provided wherever necessary, for operations following a brain chart. Overall, this micromanipulator is simple to use and meets a wide variety of applications.
